Case
Root Canal Treatment at Lower Right Second Molar
Case presentation:
This lady attended for a new patient examination. Radiographs showed recurrent caries and an asymptomatic periapical area at 47 (the lower right second molar, bridge retainer).
Diagnosis:
Caries, pulp necrosis and chronic periapical periodontitis at LR7.
Treatment:
After sectioning the bridge, the abutment and caries were removed, followed by a composite core build up at LR7.
The usual steps of rubber dam isolation, access and canal orifice location were uneventful.
Coronal flaring and working length determination of 3 canals, preceded thorough chemo-mechanical preparation to Protaper Gold F3 (30.09). Patency was maintained throughout with a size 10 Flex-o-file.
The canals were dried and filled with taper matched gutta-percha cones and warm vertical compaction.
The tooth was restored with a provisional crown and a new bridge fabricated after 3 months.
